Flood Insurance

Flood insurance helps protect your home and its contents from damage or loss from a flood, which is an excess of water on land that is normally dry.  The official definition is a “general or temporary condition of partial or complete inundation or two or more acres of normally dry land area or two or more properties (at least one of which is your property)” that is caused by overflow of inland or tidal waters, unusual and rapid accumulation or runoff of surface waters from any source, mudflow, and collapse of land along the shore of a lake or similar body of water caused by waves or currents of water.

Flood insurance covers the building, its electrical systems, central air conditioning and heating systems, hot water heaters, and permanently installed appliances.  Contents coverage can be purchased separately to protect your personal belongings, furniture, and removable appliances.

Flood Insurance is purchased from FEMA and its National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or from an independent insurance (sometimes called Private Flood Insurance).  American Heritage Insurance represents both the NFIP and Private Flood Insurance Programs and we understand the different types of coverage offered by both programs.  At American Heritage Insurance Group, we analyze your individual situation and identify the best option to fit your specific needs to protect your home and its contents from a flood exposure.
