Whether you are driving or participating in trick-or-treating, it is of utmost importance that you, your family, and your friends stay safe during Halloween festivities.
Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treaters
- Cross the street at corners and use crosswalks when available.
- Look left, right, and left again when crossing.
- Don’t run across the street.
- Put down electronics devices when crossing the street.
- Always walk on sidewalks or paths and in the direction of on-coming traffic.
- Watch for cars backing up or turning.
Safety Tips for Costumes
- Make sure costumes are safe to wear.
- Decorate costumes and candy bags with reflective tape, stickers, and glow sticks.
- Choose face paint instead of masks.
- Make sure a costume is not too big or baggy.

- Drive more cautiously and aware of your surroundings on Halloween.
- Slow down and be alert at all times.
