Affordable and Comprehensive Auto Insurance Coverage
Ohio, Indiana, & Kentucky
We build personalized auto insurance programs that protect your vehicle, your family, and your financial future
and treat your policy like it’s our own.
Here’s what we typically review with you about your Auto Insurance Policy:
- Collision & Comprehensive Coverage Protects your vehicle (including specialized EV/hybrid components like batteries) from physical damage caused by a driving accident (where you are at fault) and other unforeseen events beyond your control like weather, theft, vandalism, and hitting a deer.
- Liability Insurance Covers bodily injury or property damage you cause to others in an accident where you are at fault.
- Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist Provides critical protection for you and your family when other at-fault drivers are not insured or do not have enough insurance to cover your bodily injuries.
- Personal Injury Protection (Kentucky) PIP is a mandatory “no-fault” auto insurance coverage required on all KY registered motor vehicles that pays up to $10,000 per person per accident (higher limits are available) for medical expenses, lost wages, and replacement services, regardless of who caused the accident.
- Medical Payments Covers accident related medical expenses for you and your passengers regardless of who is at fault for the accident.
- Additional Coverage Options Roadside Assistance, Towing, Rental Car Reimbursement, New Car Replacement, OEM Parts, Custom Parts and Equipment, and more.
- Specialized Policies Named Non-Owner Insurance for individuals who do not own a vehicle (but are required by law to have insurance) and Rideshare Insurance for those driving for services like Uber and Lyft.
- Usage-Based Insurance (UBI / Telematics) Auto insurance programs that can reward safe driving habits with potential savings — available as an optional program, not a requirement.

The team at AHIG have done a fantastic job for me and my family. They have outstanding knowledge of the available products and work with many top tier carriers. I am very comfortable that we have the right insurances in place. Further, they work extra hard to ensure we get a fair price for the coverage. I have recommended many people to AHIG and will continue to do so. All of them have been pleased.

Frequently Asked Insurance Questions By Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky Drivers
Why is my premium increasing even though I have a clean driving record?
Recent premium adjustments across the Midwest are caused by a combination of “social inflation” and rising repair costs. In states like Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, we have seen a significant increase in the average cost of claims due to higher labor rates at repair shops and the rising price of advanced vehicle components (like sensors and cameras). Even with a perfect record, your rate reflects the total cost of risk and repairs within your specific geographic region.
Are certain vehicle makes or models more expensive to insure right now?
Yes. Due to a surge in non-immobilizer vehicle thefts popularized through social media, certain makes and models from years 2011–2021 have been reclassified into higher risk brackets. In urban areas like Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Louisville, these ‘high-frequency theft targets’ may require additional anti-theft equipment (such as steering wheel locks or software updates) to qualify for standard rates. We recommend verifying the ‘theft-risk rating’ of a vehicle before purchase to understand its impact on your total cost of ownership.
How does living near a state border (OH/KY/IN) affect my coverage?
The tri-state area features a unique mix of insurance frameworks: Kentucky is a “Choice No-Fault” state, while Ohio and Indiana follow “Tort” (at-fault) systems. If you commute across state lines, your policy is designed to automatically adjust to meet the minimum legal requirements of the state where an accident occurs. However, we highly recommend Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage to protect you against the varying minimum liability limits found across these different state jurisdictions.
Why does it cost more to insure my Electric Vehicle than my traditional gas-powered car?
Insurance rates for Electric Vehicles can sometimes be 50% to 60% higher than gas-powered cars driven primarily by higher costs to repair (specialized parts) and very high labor costs (fewer trained technicians). Also, minor accidents with EV’s often result in vehicles being totaled rather than repairing them due to damaged battery packs and other issues with computers.
