Home Office, Office, OrganizationOrganizing your home office might seem like a daunting task, especially if you don’t know where to begin. If you’re wanting to organize your home office, keep reading for 10 home office organization tips to start the process.

Home Office Organization Tips
  1. Incorporate Storage – Check out various stores to view storage options. This can range in desk accessories to a secondary chair with storage inside. You can also view various storage options online.
  2. Group Similar Items – Try to keep your supplies in order by grouping them by similarity and use. It makes sense to keep extra printer paper, staples and a stapler by the printer.
  3. Find & Display Inspiration – If you notice your office space to be a little boring, try to find some inspiration that you can openly display.
  4. Set the Mood – By changing the mood of your office, you can create a productive and stress-free workspace. Try adjusting the music volume level, temperature, and lighting, all factors that adjust the mood of a space.
  5. Use Color – Try using the colors blue, red and green to help boost your creativity and confidence.
  6. Furniture – If you like the modern decor look, try incorporating a few curves. Studies show that curvilinear furniture evokes positive feelings.
  7. Clutter is OK – Some people stress out about all the clutter on their desk but don’t worry about it. A University of Michigan study found that a little clutter can actually boost creativity.
  8. Greenery – Indoor plants have various effects on us, especially if we’re staring at a screen all day. Purchase some easy to maintain plants and you might notice improvements with fatigue, stress, attention, and cleaner air.
  9. Designate an Inbox – This is important for anyone that might be leaving something behind for you. In your house and at work this could be mail, printer documents, etc. Don’t be afraid to let your team and family know that this is where any items they have for you need to go. It will help you stay on top of things as they come in.
  10. Daily Clean – Make it a priority to clean up your desk at the end of your work day or session. This will help you organize any rush items for the following day and it helps with feeling overwhelmed.
