American Heritage Insurance Group is Giving Thanks for…Food

November 13, 2015Leave a Comment

Red Background, Giving, Thanks, White Text, Give, Thanks

November is the month of being thankful and giving thanks for everyday and unique things that happen to you. At American Heritage Insurance Group, we took the time to think about why we’re thankful for food, specifically our favorite Thanksgiving dishes. With Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week taking place November 14th – 21st, we took a second to really think about why we are thankful for food. Many of our staff responses included how it connects us with friends and families, can make someone happy or remind them of a memory, and at its very core, provides us with necessary substance for life. Read more below to find out why we’re giving thanks to food and to see some yummy recipes.

“I love turkey dressing. I am thankful that my family has been able to pass down a family recipe for the dressing and there is no one who makes it like my mother.I am thankful for the family tradition of sharing the recipe through several generals and it is still being passed down.”

Sara Rogers

“Baked Beans! This is a staple at every family get together that was started by my grandmother. I inherited her “bean bowl” that she always used, after she passed away.”

Elaynea Smith

“Green Bean Casserole and Stuffing/Dressing depending on where you were raised. Everyone knows how to make green bean casserole so no need to include that recipe and every family has their own personal favorite ingredients for stuffing/dressing. Personally I use Stove Top dressing and for my mom and I it’s delicious every time. ”

Catie Adams

“My mom’s chocolate pudding pies. These are the easiest pies to make in the whole world and they are a must during Thanksgiving. Everyone always expects these pies…I’m pretty sure one of my Uncle’s would have a meltdown if she didn’t make them!”

Ingredients

  • Jello, Chocolate Pudding (Do not buy the type you need to cook, just the one you need to stir milk in to)
  • Milk
  • Store Bought Pie Dough (Find it by the biscuits.)
  • Whip Cream/Cool Whip

Directions

  • Follow the Directions on the Pie Box
  • Follow the Directions on the Jello Box
  • Pour the Jello into the Cooled Pie Shell
  • Chill Overnight
  • ENJOY!
