Answer: It Depends.
Wedding insurance is one of those products where it can be justified as to why you do not need it, but it’s highly recommended especially because you truly do not know what will happen in the next year, month, day, a minute or second. Because of the unpredictable, wedding insurance is recommended for, if nothing else, peace of mind.
When doing our research, we found that many carriers who sell wedding insurance recommend it only if you are spending above a certain dollar amount.
For example, if you have a car loan for $30,000 you would most likely be required to carry full coverage just in case you’re involved in an accident, whether you’re at fault or not. Apply this to your wedding budget of $30,000. You very easily could be involved in an “accident” that is most likely not your fault. You would want something to be covered, right?
If we still haven’t convinced you of the cost associated reasons to purchase wedding insurance, maybe these reasons will:
- You never know what could happen.
- Venue failure or bankruptcy.
- Military deployment / work relocation.
- Severe weather.
- Illness / injury to the wedding party.
- Property damage.
- Low cost of policies vs amount of coverage.
Think About It: With the stress that comes from weddings and everyday life, if something unplanned were to happen, you at least know that you have wedding insurance and you should receive
some form of compensation if the claim is settled.
